NEW PRODUCTS THIS WEEK

4283 iso demo ORIG 2019 07 8 Channel LoRa Gateway Kit comes with Raspberry Pi, LoRa and GPS

If you’re building a IoT project and need to send data back-and-forth, the WiFi module built into newer Pi’s should be fine for most cases. But, what if you find WiFi does not have a long range you need? If you’re deploying your project somewhere more remotely, without WiFi or a strong cellular network, like a rural area, you’ll need another option. Something that can be deployed quickly with no overhead setup and that will transmit/receive over a long distance.

Enter LoRa (Long Range) Radio – a smart, long-range, wireless transmission technology that enables the future of IoT (Internet of Things) without Cellular fees. See more!

KittenBot Meowbit – Codable Console for MakeCode Arcade

From the creative and cat-lovin’ engineers at KittenBot comes the Meowbit – a handheld retro gaming computer for coding your own games with MakeCode Arcade and MicroPython. This design is really fun, with a GameBoy-like shape that can plug into micro:bit expansion boards. The built in display is a 160×128 color 1.8″ TFT screen with the familiar ST7735 chipset over SPI. You also get 8 buttons (4-way D-Pad, A and B, menu and reset) to make games or interface with, and there’s also a built-in speaker and SD card. For inputs there’s a bunch of sensors including a light sensor, temperature sensor and even a 6-DoF gyro+accelerometer.

Adafruit PyRuler – Engineer Reference Ruler with CircuitPython

The first time you soldered up a surface mount component you may have been surprised “these are really small parts!” and there’s a dozen of different names too! QFN, TDFN, SOIC, SOP, J-Lead, what do they mean and how can you tell how big they are? Now you can have a reference board at your fingertips with this snazzy PCB reference ruler.

KittenBot IO:bit for micro:bit – Version 2.0

From the creative engineers at KittenBot, this plug-in add on for the micro:bit expands your ‘bit to add a bunch more hardware to play with. It’s a great expansion shield that breaks out all the IO pins (inputs, outputs), and also adds some extras to make your next bit project shine.

Electric Heating Pad – 14cm x 5cm

This is hot! Literally! Apply 5-12VDC and the stainless steel fibers in this heating fabric will warm up, creating a little heating pad. On one hand, it’s just a gigantic resistor. On the other hand, it’s flexible, light, and can be wrapped around a project. Originally designed for portable wearable heating pads, this fabric can be used for wearables, weather balloons, DIY-bio projects, thermal cycling for materials testing, etc.

M5Stick-C IoT Development Kit with 2 Sensors + Watch Accessories The ESP-32-based M5Stick-C is a wee, super portable, open-source IoT development board, like a fun-sized version of the M5Stack. Jam-packed with a Wi-Fi & Bluetooth powered ESP32, USB interface, Li-Poly battery and charge circuitry, 0.96″ color TFT display, various sensors (IR transmitter, microphone, 6-DoF IMU sensor) all integrated inside, buttons, and more! You can plug Grove sensors into one end, or use the 0.1″ header sockets on the other, to connect additional sensors or actuators. It’s perfect for making ultra-small IoT projects or wearables.
