I’m not sure if the title is confusing but that’s the term that popped into my head. I was wondering if there was a large movement in IOT concentrating on physically interacting with the world versus only using software. For example:
A device that physically turns a lock versus a smart lock
A device that physically controls a thermostat instead of a smart thermostat
Technically smart plugs that plug into existing outlets even though there’s no physical component.
Basically anything that fails like an escalator by not limiting your interaction so that you’re not screwed if it stops working.
Smartians is a cool project going down this route, but I’d like to know about similar products, companies working in the space, or just hobby projects.
