The FogHorn startup (https://www.foghorn.io/) makes “IoT edge intelligence” software. They basically aggregate the output of many IoT devices locally. Their software analyzes many devices’ output and sends to the cloud only important trends.
It seems that this type of operation is very context-dependent and they need to write separate software for almost every customer or situation, which are not too many to begin with. They already burned through almost $50M in 5 years.
Do you think this company can become profitable? Or is their exit strategy to be acquired?
